What Is That?
Upon entering our home, the little boy sheepishly asked his mother, “Why do they have their TV in a box? And why is it sitting on the floor?”
They were honest questions, spoken with the innocence of an eight-year-old.
The mother, cautious not to frighten her child, told him “Sweetie, it’s not in a box…it is called a “console TV.”

My TV has become a running joke among family & friends.
My TV is so old, the owner’s manual is written in English……and only English!
In this age of the big-screen, wide-screen, flat-screen, plasma-screen, Hi-def, surround sound, 3-D, TiVo, DVR and God knows what else—I choose to
watch TV in front of my console that captivates my simpleton attention span (shiny object do as well) with 27 inches of diagonal viewing comfort.
Why the heck do I need “Hi-def” to watch reruns of “Everybody Loves Raymond?” And when others ask “Why not upgrade?” I respond by saying “Because it works!”
Of course my TV has a remote! Don’t be silly–I’m not THAT far behind the times, geez!
In fact, here is my new remote purchased just last week. It is the 5th remote we’ve had during the lifespan of the TV. You see, my adorable children tend to wear out remotes by flipping channels so quickly it puts me in a seizure.
Courtroom stenographers DREAM to have that kind of dexterity!
The heat & friction of their fingers actually wears off the numbers, so I end up with a faceless, mute of a remote!
And like all good scouts, I am prepared for TV technical breakdowns. Should something go wrong with the console, I have THIS television in reserve.

Our TV broke down a year ago, after 25 years of use. We went out in search of a “regular” tv. Couldn’t be found. We had to settle for a flat screen digital tv. It’s on a black pivital stand. It also came with a digital box and something to record programs while watching other programs, or while sleeping, or while you are doing anything when not watching tv.
I must admit after years of analog tv watching, the new clear digital picture was really hard to get used to. Oh ya, it’s also a widescreen, so everything looks stretched out to me. I don’t watch much tv anyway, I find it a waste of time. It is pretty good for the Wii though…you do know what that is right? 😉
