Running On Fumes
You don’t know what it is, but lately you’ve been pooped.
More pooped than usual.
Listless.
Groggy.
You’ve gotten less done than Congress.
Like being stuck in traffic on a New Jersey bridge.
No Mo-Jo in your Go-Go.
What’s the dealio, right?
Believe me, I can relate.
The last few weeks, I feel as though I’m swimming in Vaseline.
And if you have multiple sclerosis, you may be feeling just the same.
Blame it one the season, the cold, your diet, activity level, vitamin D, moon phase, sleep quality, sleep number (what the hell is that?), stress, Fox News or a combo of the above.
Whatever it is, the best we can do is muscle our way through it and shake things up.
You can do this in a variety of ways.
We tend to fall into comfortable routines.
So why not jumble your activities for a change of pace.
If you shower in the morning, save it for later in the afternoon. If you exercise in the evening, give it a whirl in the morning.
Sometimes your body clock just needs a slight tweaking.
And how ’bout your diet?
If it’s heavy on carbs like bread & cookies (my fav), try putting some fresh fruit in that pie hole.
You may be surprised how refreshingly good it tastes!
I have kind of revamped my schedule a bit and tried to watch my diet.
The result? My attitude brightened & my energy returned (That is, what energy we have as MSers!).
My point is it’s up to you to make the best of it. Things won’t change unless you do the changing.
Same ol-same ol gives you same ol-same ol.
So jazz it up and see what happens. You’ve got nothing to loose.
Note: The usual crotchety My Odd Sock has been abducted by aliens and replaced with this warm, jovial sweat sock. Give it time and the aliens will quickly realize they got shafted on this deal.

But I DO watch my diet. I watch it eat fill with pasta. I watch it fill up with sweets. I watch it fill up with salty things…..
Just kidding. Great advice My Odd Sock. I just have to take it!
I’ve decided to jazz up my routine by not showering at all! I’ll report back on how it goes…
p.s. what’s “fruit”?
If I moved any slower, I’d be standing still! I think you mentioned in an earlier post, that you had been mistaken for a mannequin. It is that very reason I stay clear of window displays…..
Nice tips. I should add some change to my routine. I find myself doing the same thing daily. Thanks for the words of inspiration.
I love your posts, Sock. Your descriptions are spot on (“swimming in Vaseline”.)
Fantastic advice! I’m sure my super-fast-fetcher will go out and bring me back all suggested things. Yes, the super-fast-fetcher in question _is_ a snail, but he’s super-fast compared to me, these days!!!
